Few weeks back, tabloids reported about actor cum TV show host turned director Rohit Roy planning to make the remake of the evergreen musical hit, Abhimaan in Bengali. But the film’s original producer has poured cold water over Rohit Roy’s burning desire to make the remake by dashing off a court notice to him.
Reacting to the press reports, producer Pawan Kumar has categorically denied that he has parted with the remaking or adaptation rights of his 1973 classic Abhimaan starring Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri. Pawan Kumar further confirmed to us that he has sent a copyright infringement notice to Rohit Roy refraining him from remaking the film until a proper license was granted by him, the sole and exclusive copyright owner of the original film.
Earlier there were also reports about Rajiv Menon wanting to make a Hindi remake of Abhimaan starring Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan reprising the roles of Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan respectively. But it seems, Rajiv has put aside his plans.
