WYCKOFF (GaeaTimes.com)- Fox 5 newsman Charles Leaf was arrested earlier this week over charges of sexually assaulting a minor. The well-known television reporter was detained by the cops from his home in Wyckoff in the state of New Jersey on Thursday after he was accused of molesting a four-year-old girl. Although the identity of the victim was not revealed to the media, Bergen County officials have added that minor is his ‘acquaintance’ but their actual relationship is not known.

Following the arrest, Fox 5 station is said to have terminated him until further investigation with a spokeswoman of the station pointing out to a media outlet that Fox 5 is well aware of the case and Charles Leaf has been suspended till the matter is further probed. While the intrinsic information about the arrest still remains sketchy, authorities have confirmed that the 40-year-old television journalist is being held on a $250,000 bail at the Bergen County jail. In the meanwhile, insiders have divulged that on the day of his arrest, Charles Leaf has called up Fox 5 station asking for a day off to handle certain family problems but did not mention the fact that he had been taken into custody.

However, the news of Charles Leaf’s arrest has come as a huge shock to his family members and colleagues many of whom have said that the serious allegations against the journalist are hard to believe. One of his close friends has revealed to a news source, on condition of anonymity, that it is difficult to gulp down the disturbing charges that have been levied against the television reporter.
