‘Cropsey’: The Real Horror

LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- Touted to be one of the most scary documentaries in recent times. ‘Cropsey‘ has managed to arouse a great deal of curiosity among the fans of the horror as well as the documentary genre. With its airing on August 13 on American TVs, the film has received good reviews from the critics so far. Though some of the critics felt that some aspects of the documentary may have been altered to make it more entertaining, the film is successful in getting its message across to the audience. The film deals with the urban legends that are a part of every neighborhood and city.
The story of ‘Cropsey‘ deals with a serial killer in Staten Island whose stories have passed down from generations in the area. Andre Rand, who took the responsibility for the murder of the 12 year old girl, Jennifer with Down’s syndrome, is the focus of the story. In spite of him being found guilty the documentary shows some other sides of the case that is sure to keep the audiences riveted to their seats. For example the creators of the documentary are seen exploring the scenes of the crime. Though there is no sensationalizing of the discoveries that the directors of the film make, some of the locations are sure to creep out the audiences.
The film was directed by Barbara Brancaccio and Joshua Zeman and the two are often seen on screen. ‘Cropsey‘ has gathered a reputation as the real life ‘Blair Witch Project’ which was a horror film presented in a the style of a real life documentary.
