HBO’s comedy series “Curb Your Enthusiasm” once again brought up the fictional Groat’s disease or Groat’s syndrome.
Groat is a neurological disorder marked by excessive hyperactivity “Like after 5 cups of coffee”, named after the doctor who first diagnosed it and not for the shortstop Dick Groat.
There’s not a lot of solid medical information available online about Groat’s Syndrome since it’s described as a fictional disease in the “Curb Your Enthusiasm” Season 2 Episode 5 titled “The Thong”. We found Rob Reiner raising fund for research into the unknown disease Groats.
After knowing that he suffers from the fictional Groat’s disease , Michael Richards once again finds himself in the line of fire for a racially fueled attack on an African American , who just happens to be Larry’s house guest Leon, portrayed by always hysterical J.B. Smoove. He posed as Groat’s disease sufferer Danny Duberstein and looked more like Louis Farrakhan from the Nation of Islam than a Jewish CPA.
“Curb Your Enthusiasm“, the series was inspired by a 1999 one-hour fake documentary titled Larry David: Curb Your Enthusiasm.
So far the series has been nominated for dozens of Emmys, although it has only won once, along with a Golden Globe. Six seasons of the series were produced and aired on HBO between 2000 and 2007. The seventh season premiered on September 20, 2009.

Groats Disease…Groats Syndrome…whatever you want to call it…is real! Dozens of cases reported in the Midwest in 2009. We need to educate the public. “Walk Across America For Groats Disease” will start in March. Hopefully, awareness can be raised. |
