LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- For all the fans waiting eagerly for season premiere of ‘SNL‘, there were some huge surprises on the show. With politicians not only being targets for the comedians but also appearing on the show themselves, the first episode got off to the rollicking start for the show creators. One of the most talked about appearances, however, came from pop icon Katy Perry. Coming fresh from the ‘Sesame Street’ controversy, it was easy to predict for the fans which direction the jokes will be heading.

Katy Perry, however, chose to make a rather silent statement in her comedy skit where she indirectly criticized the producers for banning her ‘Sesame Street’ video. Parents had complained that the video was too racy for children though Katy Perry was merely seen running around to make Elmo play with her. Some of the parents felt that the song lyrics were too racy and one even commented in the blog that ‘Sesame Street’ should be renamed ‘Cleavage Avenue’. In the ‘SNL‘ skit Katy Perry wore a top that only revealed most of her cleavage but also had Elmo’s eyes around it. Katy Perry also sang her two hit singles ‘California Gurls’ and ‘Teenage Dream’.

Known for her saucy videos and 70s style pop music Katy Perry is considered a fashion icon and sex symbol throughout the world. Voted the sexiest woman in the world, Katy Perry has carved a niche for herself in the music and glamor industry over the years. Her ‘SNL‘ performance and skit gave her the chance to silence her critics and also prove to them that people over reacted to the ‘Sesame Street’ video.
