LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- While many will remember this year’s American Music Awards for the stellar performances and award sweeps by the young talents, the highlight of the evening for the fashion conscious was the red carpet. With no Lady Gaga in the picture, it was time for the other ladies to shine on the carpet that has usually been dominated by the pop icon. From teen icons to R&B princesses, the red carpet of the American Music Awards boasted of some of the weirdest, classiest and most stunning outfits that included a floor length dress made of VHS tapes worn by Ke$ha.

Miley Cyrus grabbed the highest share of eyeballs on the red carpet with her short white Marchesa mini dress that was complete with a dramatic train. The 17 year old looked stunning in the long flowy dress that was complemented by the feminine high-heels. Another pop star who shined on the red carpet at the American Music Awards was Katy Perry. The newly wedded ‘California Gurl’ chose an ultra-feminine look for the award ceremony where she also performed. Her look was a far cry from the blue-wigged look seen in another award ceremony. Looking stunning in a light pink strapless gown, Katy Perry managed to look girly and yet elegant.

The guys at the American Music Awards chose black as the color of the night. Jersey Shore sensation Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino sported a necklace from his own jewelery line and complemented his black leather look with dark shades. R&B star Usher chose a similar look which included a black leather jacket.
