FEATURE: Do Knot Disturb to Wake Up Sid

With the debacle of ‘What’s Your Raashee’ and ‘Fast Forward’, the films slated to release this week have the least competition to handle. However, what would be the fate of films will much depend on what each film offers in its package. Nevertheless, for the entertainment-hungry audience, the two films ‘Wake Up Sid’ and ‘Do Knot Disturb’ seems to get good opening at the box-office. Let’s have a detailed look over the two films.
Wake Up Sid The unconventional Jodi of Ranbir Kapoor and Konkona Sen Sharma under Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions is enough to bring audience to the theatres. The film is being compared with Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Lakshya’, for the subject of youth realizing the importance of ambitions in life is dealt here. ‘Wake Up Sid’, however, with its ultra-youthful look looks promising. Moreover, ‘Wake Up Sid’ is like an oasis in the desert; so in the dearth of good films, newly turned director Ayan Mukherjee has a fair chance to prove his talent.
Do Knot Disturb: ‘Do Knot Disturb’ marks a reunion of stars associated with it. Here we go, Sushmita Sen/ Govinda/ David Dhawan- ‘Kyonkii Main Jhuth Nahi Bolta’, ‘Partner’- David Dhawan, Govinda, Lara Dutta. However, the question arises, will this mix of stars along with some more talented names recreate the magic of especially David Dhawan-Govinda masala mainstream movies. The answer is a BIG No, and the reason is the audience, who has outgrown the idea of watching slapstick comedies. However, comedies are still welcomed if it has some intelligent quotient attached to it. So, in order to survive, ‘Do Knot Disturb’ has to be rich in content.
