LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com) — Last night on “The Late Show with David Letterman”, Oscar winning actor Michael Douglas has confessed that he is suffering from advance stage 4 throat cancer. He is currently undergoing radiation and chemotherapy to treat a tumor at the base of his tongue.
In early August, Douglas went to doctor after experiencing throat and ear pain. At that point of time he found out that he has a throat cancer. But this 65 year old veteran actor is not going to give up easily. He is preparing himself to give a good fight against the disease.
In the coming days, Douglas might have to be fed through a tube as swallowing food will be very difficult for him. Many patients develop severe mouth sores and need strong pain medications - even narcotics, like morphine - to get through it. The side effects of radiation can last for months after treatment. But according to doctors, this kind of cancer generally responds well to the grueling combination of radiation and chemotherapy.
We hope that this talented and determined actor will get well soon! All his fans are with him during this stage of hardship and suffering.
