San Francisco- The preview of the movie “Avatar“, the latest science fiction epic from James Cameron, shows the promise to be ground breaking in terms of technique. Shot in 3D animation, it comes as small wonder that the film has become one of the most awaited ones in 2009. The film is scheduled for a Dec. 18 worldwide release. Costing at about $195 million, with the animation alone taking up over $300 millions, “Avatar” is being touted as the most expensive film ever made.

Director and writer James Cameron takes the cast to a distant future, in the alien planet of Pandora. The protagonist is the erstwhile United States marine, Jack Sully, voiced by Sam Worthington. He is taken to the planet as part of a program, at the end of which he would be able to overcome his disability. The program is also as a measure to find the secret to the earth’s 22nd century energy crisis. The “Avatar” movie preview shows the planet Pandora to be strange and beautiful, the alien creatures living on it terrifying, mysterious and some breathtakingly beautiful.

The film details the encounters between the two races, the Humans and the Na’vis. In order to suit themselves to the environment of the planet, the Humans turn themselves in to genetically engineered Na’vi-Human hybrids known as Avatars, something that is seen by the Na’vis as a threat to their existence. The director has even created a new language for the alien race, the first of it’s kind after “Star Trek”. The language has been conceptualized by a professor of language. If the “Avatar” movie preview is anything to go by, the film is bound to be one of the biggest grosser for this year.
