LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- The ‘SNL‘ this weekend saw some political drama as Christine O’Donnell and New York governor David Paterson came in the mix. Pop icon Katy Perry was also seen performing live in the show and there was much speculation before her appearance that the digs will be at her ‘Sesame Street’ video. The episode was hosted by ‘SNL’ veteran Amy Poehler but quite strangely averted the Katy Perry-Sesame Street controversy altogether.
A source close to the ‘California Gurl’ singer has revealed that the star was excited to make her debut on ‘SNL‘. Katy Perry performed her two recent hits on the show- ‘California Gurls’ and ‘Teenage Dream’. The singer was also in the news recently when she dedicated the song ‘You’re So Gay’ to her crush in high school, who she had spotted in the crowd. Last week, her video on ‘Sesame Street’ with Elmo became the center of media attention when parents complained of her revealing dress. Katy Perry wore a low neckline dress that revealed her cleavage. One of parents who had seen the video, commented that the children’s show ‘Sesame Street’ should be renamed as ‘Cleavage Avenue’.
This weekend the drama(jokes) on ‘SNL‘ revolved around politicians. The first target was Christine O’Donnell. The actress, who portrayed the Senate hopeful, spoke about masturbation and said that she is no longer against it. There were also some digs at her admission that she dabbled in witchcraft in high school. The highlight of the show was the appearance of Fred Armisen’s favorite target for jokes, New York governor David Paterson himself.
