Well Known Bicyclist Up For The Maine Dempsey Challenge

September 7, 2010 (Sampurn Wire):The noted Olympic Bronze medalist cyclist Levi Leipheimer is going to visit Maine to take part in the Patrick Dempsey challenge. The Tour de France veteran will be one of the most distinguished bicyclists to take part in the game.

Patrick Dempsey plays the role of surgeon Derek Shepherd in the popular ABC series called ‘Grey’s Anatomy’. Dempsey has also acted in well known romantic comedies like ‘Made of Honor’, ‘Valentine’s Day’ etc. The actor started the Maine challenge last year with a bike ride across Maine. The Challenge was launched to raise money for the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing at the Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

Dempsey has expanded the challenge to two days this time and it will include events like walking, running and bicycling. Levi Leipheimer will be joining the Olympian George Hincapie at this year’s challenge. Reports suggest that this year’s Top U.S. finisher Chris Homer will also participate in the challenge to raise money for the event.

The walking and running events will take place on October 2 and the bicycle race will go through central Maine between 10-100 miles on October 3. We hope that the event will help raise funds for the medical center and bring hope to hundreds of patients.
