Veteran Lyricist Gulzar Hospitalized

Veteran lyricist, poet and director Gulzar is not keeping well and has been hospitalized. He has been suffering from high fever since last two days and was diagnosed with malaria.

Doctors have kept Gulzar under proper medication. A source from the hospital was quoted saying that the veteran actor would be kept under observation at least for another week and his condition is stable now.

The spreading epidemic with the changing weather, has probably taken toll to 74 year old Gulzar. The Academy Award and Grammy Award winning lyricist has given some unforgettable and all time hit songs to Bollywood.

As a lyricist, Gulzar has worked with some legendary music directors like Rahul Dev Burman, Sachin Dev Burman, A. R. Rahman, Hemant Kumar, Salil Chowdhury, Vishal Bhardwaj, Madan Mohan, Anu Malik and Shankar Ehsaan Loy.

Gulzar started his career under the noted movie directors Bimal Roy and Hrishikesh Mukherjee. As a songwriter, his first composition was for the movie ‘Bandini’ in 1963 with music director Sachin Dev Burman. The song ‘Mora gora ang layle’ penned by Gulzar was picturised on the graceful heroine Nutan.

Gulzar is married to veteran actress Rakhee and has a daughter named Meghna Gulzar, who is a movie director.
