Jimena Navarrete wins Miss Universe 2010

LAS VEGAS (GaeaTimes.com) — Jimena Navarrete, Miss Mexico is the winner of the title Miss Universe 2010. Las Vegas the city where the event took place saw the a fairy tale like setting as Miss Mexico walked the ramp in a gorgeous red dress and a violet bikini.

Even as she was never tipped to win, but she sealed her victory in the interview section. She answered in her native language through the interpreter. She talked about the kids and family values.

In the meantime Miss USA Rima Fakih was not able to make up to the top 15. Miss Philippines Venus Raj made a baffling goof up in the in the interview segment. As she was asked about the biggest mistake of her life by judge William Baldwin. She rather curiously answered

Because I am very confident with my family, with the love that they are giving to me. So, thank you so much that I am here, thank you thank you so much.

Guess what she actually made the biggest mistake of her life with the Goof Up, now that is irony!

Among other news the top 5 contestants running for the title were Miss Jamaica Yendi Philipps, first runner-up; Miss Australia Jesinta Campbell, Miss Ukraine Anna Poslavska and Miss Philippines Venus Raj along with of course Jimena Navarrete. Jimena will now get an undisclosed salary her very own New York apartment and have all her expenses taken care of by the pageant. She will also get a one-year scholarship to the New York Film Academy during her time as the Miss Universe. She is Mexico’s first title holder since 1991 when Lupita Jones won the event.
