WASHINGTON (GaeaTimes.com)- Renowned reporter Daniel Schorr, who was known as a feisty television broadcaster for years before he commenced his journey as a senior news analyst at the National Public Radio, died on Friday at a Washington hospital. According to reports, the veteran reporter passed away at the Georgetown University Hospital in the presence of his family but the cause of his demise has not been reported as yet. Daniel Schorr was 93.

The fact that the noted journalist is no more has come as shock to the journalism fraternity and condolences have been pouring in from people who had the privilege of working with him. While reacting to the death of Daniel Schorr, former CBS anchor Dan Rather described him as an indefatigable reporter who was witness to some of the most significant events of the twentieth century while covering them with integrity as well as accuracy. At the same time, NPR host Scott Simon also remembered the highly acclaimed reporter as a ‘fierce journalist’ who had the wisdom and experience in broadcast journalism unlike anybody else in his field.

Daniel Schorr began his career as a foreign newspaper correspondent way back in the year 1946 and joined Edward R. Murrow’s news team in CBS in 1953 in the post of Washington diplomatic correspondent. In the wake of the controversy surrounding the leaking of United States secret intelligence reports, he was sacked from the network in 1976. Three years later, he was hired by CNN founder Ted Turner who was then gearing up to launch the network. Daniel Schorr worked with CNN till 1985 before joining National Public Radio.
