July 20, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): The Pearl Delhi Fashion week is going to be inaugurated in New Delhi at the crystal-studded venue, Grand Hotel located in the Vasant Kunj area. The six day long fashion event will showcase the collections of well-known designers like Manish Malhotra and JJ Valaya.

The organizers and designers promise to make it a never seen before grandeur event full of creativity. The renowned designers from Delhi and other cities will showcase their designs at the event.

Sunil Sethi, the president of the Fashion Design Council of India, said, “The higher stable of dress-making is in the offering for Delhites. Unlike the prêt (ready to wear) fashion weeks, the designers here get enough time to prepare for couture shows. Hence, one can expect the highest level of creativity.”

Kolkata based famous designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee will be opening the show, which will be followed by the Bollywood designer Manish Malhotra from Mumbai.

Sethi added, “This evening will offer an interesting blend of Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla from Mumbai and Sabyasachi from Kolkata as well as Delhi based designers Gaurav Gupta and JJ Valaya.”

The venue has been decorated grandiosely with a cascading chandelier made by Sumant Jayakrishnan with Swarovski Elements. Designer duo Mona-Pali has displayed their handcrafted fabrics.

According to JJ Valaya, as the Indian designers have the full liberty to show off the rich heritage of the culture here, the Indian couture itself becomes grand.

Rina Dhaka, Sandeep Khosla, Pallavi Jaikishan, Raakesh Agrawal, Anamika Khanna, Manav Gangwani Rohit Bal, Varun Bahl and Suneet Verma are some other designers, who will take part in the Delhi Couture Week.
