ANKARA - More and more people in Turkey are getting interested in marriages through the internet due to the lack of proper social atmosphere and time.

Hundreds of Turkish people were meeting each other and getting married on the internet, Xinhua quoted Ebru Selvi, director of an online marriage website, as telling Anatolia news agency.

Selvi’s “evlilikmerkezi.com” was set up a year ago, and he defines the website as the first and only marriage site in Turkey established on the basis of “scientific expertise”.

The site today has over 400,000 members, of whom 49 percent are women and 51 percent are men, and 11 percent are Turks living abroad.

According to Selvi, 93 percent of the members are working and face a lack of time to get hitched.

The website aims to create an alternative for bachelors above 18 who want to get married as early as possible, Selvi said.
