Do Celeb Nudity Make News Always?

June 4, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): With the recent ripples created over Bipasha’s nudity in an advertisement and Sherlyn Chopra’s nude pictures on twitter the question that arises is that is nudity the next ‘in’ thing ?
The fact remains that while the Indian society does not accept the concept of nudity as yet actresses don’t seem to care much these days. The recent nude pictures of Sherlyn set a rage amongst the masses and became the news flash of the week but the fact remains that nudity has been there in Indian films since quite some time now. Earlier it was not highlighted too much and accepted if the movie demanded it. Acceptance of nudity seems to be the favorite subject of the media these days.
It is not the first time that an Indian actress has shed clothes on the screen. The journey had already started with Indira Verma and Sarita Choudhary in Kama Sutra, Simi Garewal in Mera Naam Joker, Mandakini in Raam Teri Ganga Maili, Zeenat Aman in Satyam Shivam Sundaram and Seema Biswas in Bandit Queen.
The most ironic part seems to be that earlier when the society was told to be conservative, nudity was not really made an issue and now when the society seems to be open, nudity has become news! Strange but true!
