Comcast to debut cable shows online by year’s end
PHILADELPHIA — Comcast Corp. will give its subscribers online access to a slate of cable TV shows and movies by the end of the year.
The nation’s largest cable TV company will be the first pay-TV operator to offer the service, which aims to replicate what’s available on video on demand.
Comcast initially will only offer in-home access to viewers who also subscribe to its Internet service. It is working to provide access over competing broadband systems, whether viewers are at home or out of the house.
Comcast will offer content from 24 cable networks, including Emmy award-winning “Entourage” from HBO and “Mad Men” from AMC.
Comcast will not charge extra for the service.
