Gloria Stuart of Titanic fame dies

September 28, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Gloria Stuart, the original Hollywood veteran, who played the elderly Rose in “Titanic”, by Cameron is dead. She was 100 years old.

The actress, shoes full name is Gloria Stuart Sheekman expired, as she was sleeping. She died at 8 PM on the 26th of September. She was attended by Sylvia Vaughn Thompson, her daughter as well as by her extended family.

She was born on the 4th of July in the year 1910, in Santa Monica and she starred in a variety of horror films and musicals in the earlier phase of 1930. She has been working in the show-biz for over eight decades now and that is one really commendable job. She has showcased her talents equally on stage, film and even on TV.

As can be understood, she has done several fascinating films in her time-period; some of the most memorable ones of her career include movies like, “The Old Dark House” (1932), “The Invisible Man” (1933) and “The Prisoner of Shark Island” (1936). It was James Cameron’s smash hit “Titanic” (1997), with Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, which actually got Gloria Stuart Sheekman, her first and only nomination, for Oscar.

She got this nomination for playing the character of Rose Calvert, the narrator of the tale of dread and romance. She played the older version of Kate and was one of the survivors of the ship.
