Sacha Baron Cohen To Play Freddie Mercury

September 20, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Sacha Baron Cohen, the star of the movie Borat, has been recently signed up to star in a movie that involves the flamboyant rock star Freddie Mercury. This news was revealed by the producers, this Friday.

Peter Morgan, the writer for The Queen, is presently working on a certain screenplay about this enigmatic frontman, who succumbed to AIDS in the year 1991.

The movie is yet to be named. The film would end with the band’s legendary and memorable appearance at the 1985 Live Aid concert that was held in London. This announcement about the film was made by GK Films. The company is producing with Tribeca Productions, headed by acclaimed actor Robert De Niro and Queen Films. The movie-production would commence in the year 2011.

The band was founded in 1971 by guitarist Brian May, bassist John Deacon,drummer Roger Taylor and Mercury. They have become one of the most well known bands of their generation and songs like We Are the Champions, Bohemian Rhapsody and We Will Rock You have all become legends in their own right.

Queen guitarist, Brian May has announced that he supports this particular movie project. He also added that the selection of Baron Cohen to play Freddie would surely shock some people and Queen fans worldwide. However, Sacha has been talking to them for a long period of time.
