Women judge Mr Right by his shopping basket

LONDON - A decent shopping trolley filled with red wine, fruits and vegetables can be the lucky charm for a man who wishes to find a partner at his neighbourhood supermarket.
Women size up potential boyfriends queueing at the checkout counter and if the man wants to be in with a chance, he’ll need to watch what’s on his shopping list, a new survey has found.
In a poll of 2,000 women, aged 25 to 45, 90 percent said the contents of a man’s shopping basket had a big influence on their first impressions. And most confessed they decide if a man is desirable within 10 seconds of peeking into his trolley, Daily Express reported.
In that short time, two-thirds concluded whether or not a man leads a healthy lifestyle. While 62 percent assess if he took care of himself, most women also decided how wealthy he was.
Top turn-ons were a decent bottle of red wine, fruit and vegetables, fresh fish, new potatoes and mince - which showed the man had class and a healthy life.
But those who preferred to stock up on cans of lager, instant soup, tomato ketchup and vodka were a turn-off. They were seen by women as lazy, unhealthy and poor.
“Women are trained to spot suitable mates and have many unconscious ways of assessing a man’s partnership potential - including his height, the symmetry of his features and even his smell. Secretly snooping at a man’s shopping is just the modern way of seeing what kind of provider he would be. Women subconsciously want good fathers for their kids,” said Kate Taylor, a relationship expert.
“Seeing fresh fruit and veg in a man’s shopping basket also inspires women to think he takes good care of himself. This personality trait is attractive to modern women who know they won’t have to nag a partner about his health.”
The research, by the Potato Council, found that women in Scotland and the South-west of England judge men’s shopping the most.
