British Actor Russell Brand In Talks To Play Hawkwood

July 29, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): English comedy actor Russell Brand may be seen playing a morally challenged but talented legendary 15th century swordsman John Hawkwood. The actor is in talks with 20th Century Fox.
The idea was first brought to Fox comedy head Nicky Weinstock by the British comedian. Hawkwood was a washbuckler, who had to lead many European armies during the Renaissance wars. He served under both Italy and France.
The 35-year old actor earlier worked with Fox on the projects like Get Him to the Greek and Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
Brand will also produce the film with Dylan Clark and Peter Chernin and Nicky Weinstock is the executive producer. The script is being penned by Jared Stern, who was involved in rewriting of Russell’s upcoming movie Arthur, which is a remake of 1980s comedy.
No director has been finalized yet to take up the project on Hawkwood.
