Bangalore Fashion Store MINC To Promote Eco-Friendly Fashion

July 27, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): MINC, a Bangalore fashion store is going to promote eco-friendly fashion by using organic cotton, vegetable-dyed fabrics, and khadi. Many fashion designers have opted for eco-friendly material to develop their designs.
Khadi, which was once used to resist British rule, has become a fashion statement now. From revolutionaries to designer boutiques, the journey of khadi has been an exciting one.
The store offers MINC toujours and MINC petite for young girls and tweens, which are the labels from the studio Mishan designs in Bangalore. The label is designed by Mini Shibu and Cdr. Kochery C Shibu, two alumni of National Institute of Design India. The duo aims to promote a green lifestyle and at the same time maintaining sustainability.
Natural fabrics are used in creating all the designs available at the store. Natural dyes are used to color all the materials. These are also environment friendly and azo free. Natural materials like coconut or sea shell and wood are used to make the closures.
The designer Mini Shibu says, “Khadi has always fascinated me and its versatility has attracted me. Without exaggerating the whole khadi image, we wanted to utilize the hand-woven and hand-spun materials. Fashionable, fit, and functional clothing is our USP. We make our clothes stand out by keeping full attention to detailing and fitness”.
The 18-30 age groups are the main target of most of the stores. But MINC has created XL and XLL sizes to go step further. Large sized skirts and kalamkari drawstring cotton are also available here along with formal shirts. Flower-printed tops, red tweed skirts, and embroidered pants are available for young adolescent girls.
According to Mini, “One can do many things by using this eco-friendly versatile material. The customers have also started experimenting with this eco-friendly material as lots of designers are working with it”.
The price range of the clothing starts from Rs 650 to Rs 1,800 and the knits ranges from Rs 350 and go up to Rs 700 and above.
