LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- The PBS’ Wednesday night show “Merle Haggard: Learning to Live With Myself”, turned out to be a worth watch for the viewers who tuned to the channel at 9 p.m. The sheer content of the documentary which dealt with the life of the Country singer Merle Haggard made it a must watch. The 83 minute long documentary was aired during PBS’ series titled “American Masters”.

Directed by Gandulf Hennig, the documentary was reportedly filmed over a period of three-years. It contained interviews with Merle Haggard himself who enlightened the viewers about the struggle of his early life and how music happened. The documentary kept in front of the viewers not only the perspective of Merle Haggard but also of many other people who have lived in close association with the singer. Gandulf Hennig went on to interview not only Keith Richards, John Fogerty and Marty Stuart, but also Merle Haggard’s wives both past and present. All these gave a comprehensive view of the life that had suffered too much. The documentary undoubtedly bore in it the honesty that the songs of Merle Haggard have.

Merle Haggard: Learning to Live With Myself” portrayed the singer of songs like “Mama Tried” and “Hungry Eyes” as a restless soul that is not at home anywhere and roams in an endless search for a music that will transcend his life. Out of the clutches of lung cancer of which he was diagnosed back in 2008, Merle Haggard is back in the world of music and living life to the fullest.
