Feb 3, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Vidya Malvade stole many hearts with her powerful performance in 2007’s biggest hit ‘Chak De India’, where she played a hockey player in the film. Now yet again she is starring in Chandan Arora’s upcoming flick ‘Striker’ which revolves around the game of carrom.
So, how did Vidya end up doing a sport-themed film for the second time?
“What can I say; perhaps I think I have got a past connection with sports. Maybe I had some kind of association with sports in my past life,” smiles Vidya.
Well ‘Chak De India’ was in a way a revolutionary film that highlighted the problems of women’s hockey team but ‘Striker’ is not all about carrom players, there is more to the film, plus Vidya is not the player this time.
“I played hockey in ‘Chak De India’ and I am glad to be associated with the sport, but in ‘Striker’ Siddharth is doing all the action, Ijust play his sister,” says Vidya.
Well, after ‘Chak De India’ and now ‘Striker’ we won’t be surprised to see this sporty actress in a cricket oriented film, after all cricket is a religion in India.
