Lucy Liu is coming to Mumbai next month. Charlie’s Angels and Kill Bill star Lucy Liu is turning director along with two other American superstar-actresses Meryl Streep and Angelina Jolie in a four-segment all-women feature film, yet to be untitled. The fourth director is yet to be finalized. But the first three superstar-directors are all set to go behind the camera, the first one being Lucy Liu.

And the heartening news is that Lucy Lieu turns director with a film to be set in Mumbai. The hush-hush project, part of a four-segment feature, starts filming in February at undisclosed locations of Mumbai. Two other segments of the film are to be shot in two other countries by Angelina Jolie and Meryl Streep.

Playing the lead in the Mumbai segment to be directed by Lucy Liu is the dusky Bengali actress Tannishtha Chatterjee who embraced global eyeballs with her role as the repressed Bangladeshi wife in Sarah Gavron’s British film Brick Lane . After an actress(currently doing the festival circuit for Dev Benegal’s Road, (a movie opposite Abhay Deol) was selected in Mumbai from among many topnotch hopefuls Tannistha flew down to LA to meet Lucy Liu .

The USP of this project is that it converts some of the topmost American actresses into first-time directors. It is to be shot in four continents beginning with India and Mumbai. When contacted Tannishtha who’s currently shooting out of Mumbai is startled. “Where did you hear about this? At the moment I’m not supposed to talk about this project at all. If a word comes out of me I’ll be guilty of breach of contract. So let’s just say, I love Lucy.”
