Malin Akerman to replace LiLo as Linda Lovelace in Inferno

LONDON - Lindsay Lohan’s role as porn star Linda Lovelace in ‘Inferno’ has been axed - she will be replaced by Couples Retreat actress Malin Akerman.

Director Matthew Wilder’s announcement came just three months after he promised to stand by Lohan and rubbished reports she was being replaced, reports the Daily Mail.

“Even if Angelina Jolie wanted the role we would be sticking with Lindsay Lohan,” Wilder had said.

Lohan’s camp is now claiming she wasn’t fired, insisting she chose to pull out of the film of her own accord.

But the director has something entirely different to say.

“We are withdrawing our offer from Lindsay Lohan. We have stuck by Lindsay very patiently for a long time with a lot of love and support,” Wilder said.

“Ultimately the impossibility of insuring her - and some other issues - have made it impossible for us to go forward,” he added.

Lohan’s spokesperson said, “Lindsay is dedicated to her recovery and together they decided to move forward without her.”

The Mean Girls star has been in court ordered rehabilitation for cocaine addition, at the Betty Ford Centre in Rancho Mirage, California since October 22.

After failing a drug test Lohan narrowly escaped jail time for a probation violation stemming from her 2007 DUI arrest. She has been ordered to stay in rehab until January 3. (ANI)
