MUMBAI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- It’s been a while since Rani Mukerji delivered a power-packed performance that she is best known for. All her ardent fans have a reason to rejoice this weekend as her latest release “No One Killed Jessica” is all set to hit theaters across the country. The anticipation regarding the Rajkumar Gupta directed flick has been all the more since its is based on the high-profile murder case of model Jessica Lal, whose cold-blooded murder at a popular New Delhi restaurant had rocked the country about eleven years ago. The case sparked a huge uproar after the accused were acquitted by the trial court in the year 2006 following which the media played a pivotal role in bringing the case to the public platform.
The murder of Delhi Based model Jessica Lal has all the necessary elements for a typical Bollywood film and it was only a matter of time for the real-life incident to be picked up by a filmmaker to be adapted for the big screen. Apart from Rani Mukherji edging the role of a fire-brand television journalist, “No One Killed Jessica” also stars Vidya Balan playing the role of the murdered model’s sister Sabrina Lal, who fought tooth-and-nail to ensure that her sister’s killers are behind the bars.
Although “No One Killed Jessica” is inspired from the real-life murder case of Jessica Lal, director RajKumar Gupta has reiterated that it is neither a biography of any particular person nor a documentary. The ace filmmaker who is known to have directed the critically acclaimed “Aamir,” has emphasized that the movie is just his interpretation of the high-profile case.
