‘Black Girls Rock!’: A Star-Studded Event

LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- The ‘Black Girls Rock!‘ event that was telecast on BET network on Sunday night boasted of all the entertaining elements that audiences usually expect from an awards ceremony. Apart from honoring some of the most accomplished African American women from various fraternity for their achievements, the event also showcased a number of scintillating performances that ensured that the viewers have a gala time. The awards ceremony which was hosted by actress Nia Long witnessed some stellar performances by Kelly Price, Keri Hilson, Jill Scott, Keyshia Cole, Marsha Ambrosius, to name a few.
‘Black Girls Rock!‘ founder chief executive officer Beverly Bond reiterated that partnership of the awards with BET symbolized the ‘beginning of an empowerment for women of color’ owing to the fact that ‘Black Girls Rock!’ all across the globe. The event founder also went on to say that it is high time African American women are told how amazing they are and how amazing they can be and the entire world should know that ‘We Black Girls Rock!’
Among the successful women who were recognized for their illustrious work included recording artist Missy Elliott who was conferred with the Visionary award while highly-acclaimed actress Ruby Dee received the honor of Living Legend. Actress and singer Raven Symone was honored with the Young, Gifted & Black award while the Who Got Next? award went to musical artist Keke Palmer. Apart from these, many other noteworthy ladies from many other fields of work were bestowed with honors at ‘Black Girls Rock!‘ award ceremony to recognize their achievement and contribution to their respective fields. The event which was taped earlier was shown on BET last night.
