‘20/20′ Talks Heroin Addiction

LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- This week on ABC’s ‘20/20‘, the life of a heroin addict was showcased and the audience got an insight into what actually goes on in the mind of a drug addict. Though the young heroin addicts all look like normal adults, they are constantly battling with their addiction that threatens to destroy their life in one way or the other. The show followed the life of a 21 year old suburban teenager who is on her way towards recovery from heroin addiction, but still feels the strong backlash of the dangerous drug.
On the show, Ashley explained that she has nothing else to do throughout the day other than think about the how to get her daily dose of heroin. She said that she goes to any extent to manage her $100 worth of heroin in a day and realizes that she is rotting gradually. She has dropped out of school and quit her job due to her addiction and lives her life as a full time junkie. She said that she needs as many as hundred hits a day of heroin and though the ‘20/20‘ show followed her path towards recovery, it did explore the tragic outcomes of the addiction.
The ‘20/20‘ show highlighted that heroin is gradually threatening to bring in the a large number of youngsters into the world of drug addiction. It was also explained that the drug has become cheaper in recent years and was easily available in America. On the show there was also a heroin bust shown where a mother and son where arrested for heroin possession in Suffolk county.
