‘Priscilla Queen of the Desert’ musical finds home

NEW YORK — A musical version of “Priscilla Queen of the Desert” has found a Broadway home.

Producers announced Wednesday that the show, based on the cult film “Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert,” will begin performances next year at the Palace Theater. The show had its world premiere in Australia in 2006 and later was a smash hit in London.

The musical will have a 12-week run in Toronto beginning in October before coming to Broadway.

“Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical” is written by Stephan Elliott and Allan Scott and directed by Simon Phillips. It stars Tony Sheldon, Will Swenson and Nick Adams as three friends who find love in the Australian outback.

Previews in New York begin Feb. 28.
