Sreeram Chandra Bags the Title of “Indian Idol 5″ !

MUMBAI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com) — Sreeram Chandra turned up to be the winner of the prestigious title of Indian Idol 5. Last night as billions of people eyed Sony Entertainment Television to know the fate of the top three contestants of Indian Idol 5, it was Sreeram who remained outstanding as always. Sreeram sang ‘Jhoom Barabar Jhoom’ and a patriotic song on occasion of India’s independence day.
Just before winning the title Sreeram said,
“Independence Day has always been important. If I win, I will feel lucky that I have received my identity on a day when my country celebrates its independence. For the rest of my life I will celebrate this day as my victory day.”
Sreeram Chandra, is from the Hyderabad city. He is a well known singer in Telugu. He even participated in many Telugu reality shows like SYE, SA RE GA MA PA. Sreeram’s father is an advocate in High Court, Hyderabad and his mother is a housewife. Sreeram Chandra sung title song in the movie “Ashta Chemma”. This was the first major exposure of his voice to the mass. Sreeram is now 24 years old and is a resident of Secunderabad, Andhra Pradesh.
Last night along with the in-house judges Saleem Merchant, Sunidhi Chauhan and Anu Malik other stars like Kareena Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Kiron Kher, Shankar Mahadevan were present. Sreeram was awarded by megastar Amitabh Bachchan. Big B, even at 67 was sporting enough to come upto stage and shake his legs on numbers like Shava Shava. He even played KBC with the finalists promoting upcoming season of Kaun Banega Crorepati. Chandra received Rs 50 lakh cash prize, a car, a motorbike, a one year contract with Sony TV and a chance to lend his voice to one of the forthcoming Yashraj Films. He has presently lent his voice for Salim Merchant’s upcoming flick along with Shreya Ghosal.
It was altogether a glamorous evening and a gala event. Everybody paid tribute to the nation singing “Vande Mataram”.
