Mixed Response For Aisha

August 14, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): The recently released Aisha has opened to a mixed response. Taran Adarsh, trade analyist, said that the film was received well at the multiplexes and there was 70 to 80 percent occupancy this Friday. This wasn’t the case at the single-screens and small centers, and these are the places where the film couldn’t do much business. It garnered about 20 to 25 percent only.

This was corroborated by Prakhar Joshi, Head of Programming PVR Cinemas. He said that the film collected about Rs 2.45 crore from all over the nation. PVR multiplexes in South Delhi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai have opened with about 90 percent possession over the weekend, which is really good.

Aisha is a jointly produced film. It’s collaboration between yesteryear Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor’s Film Company and the PVR Pictures. Aisha debuted with 475 screens all over the nation and it was released over 135 screens abroad. As per an official release from the PVR Pictures, the movie’s first weekend collections should be at around Rs 26 crore.

On the other hand, keeping apart from these excited bursts, it was quite a bad business for several exhibitors around the country. Business was so bad, that Manoj Desai of G-7 and Maratha Mandir claimed that they were looking forward to the release of Peepli [Live] and Help so as to make up for some battered business.

There might be circumstances under which the screening of Aisha would be reduced.
