Academy Award Winning Actress Patricia Neal Passes Away

August 10, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): American actress Patricia Neal, who won Oscar for her performance in the 1963 movie Hud, has passed away on August 8 at the age of 84.
Neal took retirement from acting just after two years of receiving the Academy Award. She was only 39 years then and had suffered a series of strokes. However, the talented lady came back again to offer some memorable roles. After rehabilitation, her first movie was The Subject Was Roses in 1968 and for this movie, she got nominated for another Academy Award.
Later, Patricia appeared in a television movie titled ‘The Homecoming: A Christmas Story’ in 1971 and won a Golden Globe for her performance.
Neal was married to author Roald Dahl for 30 years, whom she married on July 2, 1953 at Trinity Church in New York. The model and TV presenter Sophie Dahl is her granddaughter.
Before she entered Hollywood in late 1940s, Patricia was a star on Broadway.
The actress died of lung cancer on August 8, 2010 at her residence in Edgartown, Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts.
