EDGARTOWN (GaeaTimes.com)- Actress Patricia Neal, who is known to be associated with a number of highly-acclaimed films during her illustrious career, breathed her last on Sunday. The renowned actress, who was honored with an Oscar award for her splendid performance in the 1963 flick “Hud,” died at her home in Edgartown, in the state of Massachusetts on Martha’s Vineyard after she succumbed to lung cancer. During her final moments, Patricia Neal was surrounded by her family who later confirmed the news of her demise to the media. The celebrated actress was 84 years old.

While validating the news of Patricia Neal’s death, her family released a statement which said that the 84-year-old actress faced her final illness just as she had confronted other trials and tribulations of her life, with her indomitable grace, humor and the stubbornness that she was known for. The news of the unfortunate demise of the renowned actress has left many of her fans as well as her colleagues in the movie industry rather saddened. During her iconic career, Patricia Neal starred in a number of noted films where her work was highly appreciated by the audiences as well as the critics. “The Fountainhead,” “The Day The Earth Stood Still,” “In Harm’s Way,” “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” were just some of the flicks in which the actress impressed all with her prowess over acting.

In the 1963, when Patricia Neal received the Academy Award for the Best Actress, she had already made her mark in Broadway and had won many recognitions for her Broadway roles. However, two years later, the actress suffered multiple strokes which left her semi-paralyzed but Patricia Neal was able to make a resounding comeback onscreen later.
