MUMBAI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- Salman Khan has rejected Katrina Kaif for fellow actress Deepika Padukone. Now before the imagination starts running wild, Deepika Padukone is not the Bollywood heartthrob’s next girlfriend. Rather Salman Khan has chosen Deepika Padukone to be his next heroine in his upcoming film to be directed by brother in law Atul Agnihotri.

According to reports in the media circles, though Atul Agnihotri was keen on working with Katrina Kaif and casting her real life boyfriend Salman Khan opposite her, it was the latter who objected to the director’s choice of heroine in the film. Salman Khan apparently felt that Deepika Padukone will not only look better with him on screen, but will also be the perfect choice for the character in the film as opposed to girlfriend Katrina Kaif. A source associated with the upcoming Atul Agnihotri film says that Salman Khan has been looking forward to working with Deepika Padukone for a very long time now. Since nothing materialized during the filming of Anees Bazmee’s “Ready” where it had been rumored that the two actors would be working together, Salman Khan did not want to miss the opportunity this time.

The upcoming Atul Agnihotri movie is a remake of the popular South Indian film “Bodyguard”. The reason that Salman Khan cited for picking Deepika Padukone over Katrina Kaif is that the film required a fresh pair to make sure that it is a hit with the audience. Though the actor was quick to defend himself saying that Deepika Padukone better suited the role of the heroine in the remake. Whatever the reason, Katrina Kaif’s films with Salman Khan have always failed at the box office, so the actor may have adopted a precautionary measure this time on.
