MUMBAI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- “Indian Idol” is gradually progressing towards the end and the top five finalists of the reality television program’s fifth season have been rounded up. According to reports from the sets of “Indian Idol”, judges Anu Malik, Sunidhi Chauhan and Salim Merchant were in a fix at the end of the last episode when their favorite contestant Rakesh Maini got voted out of the show.

While Rakesh Maini was a talented singer when compared to the others among the top 5, the audience apparently did not think so and this was when the drama surrounding the elimination of Rakesh Maini ensued. Along with Rakesh Maini, the other contestant in the danger zone was Swaroop Khan. The judges were then forced to make use of their power of veto to keep Rakesh Maini on the show claimed reports from the sets of “Indian Idol”. The judges are now thankful to Anu Malik because it was the music composer’s efforts which had led to the creation of the veto power in the first place.

In the last episode of “Indian Idol”, it was Rakesh Maini’s and Swaroop Khan’s names in the bottom two positions. This in itself was reason enough for Rakesh Maini and the judges to be shocked, so when the results were declared, the judges were angry, with Anu Malik claiming that the audiences’ decisions sometimes lead to the elimination of deserving candidates. It has been reported that Anu Malik had a huge tiff with the “Indian Idol” producers who were initially against granting the veto power to judges. Actors Ajay Devgan and Kangana Ranaut were the celebrity judges of last week’s dramatic “Indian Idol” episode.
