LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- The pretty and talented actress Rachel Weisz is loved by her fans for her fiery performance in the films of the “Mummy” series and the critically acclaimed ‘The Constant Gardener’. She has a number of films lined up for release and among them the period drama “Agora” deserves special mention. This 4th century drama set in ancient Alexandria depicts the clash of religions namely paganism and Christianity and at the forefront there is the magical figure of Hypatia, a talented and multi faceted astronomer. She is not much affected by the religious clashes. Unlike other women she is not floored by the attention given by her male admirers. Instead she continues her quest for knowledge amidst the turmoil that rocks Alexandria.

Rachel Weisz looks ethereal in the film Agora and the director Alejandro Amenabar is happy with the performance she has given. The film has been made on a steep budget and the backdrop looks authentic. The majority of the film has been filmed at Malta. Though the film is over two hours long it does not drag. There are a lot of bloodshed and digitally enhanced battle sequences in it. The viewers get the feeling that they are watching a film with contemporary themes set 1600 years ago.

Rachel Weisz is excited about the film as it is a period drama and she has given the role her best. She said in an interview that the role of Hypatia is different from all other characters she has done so far. She also has two other films ready for release.
