June 12, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): The catwalk queen Claudia Schiffer is in hot water now for a few photos that she had shot two years back with Karl Lagerfeld.

The supermodel is at the center of a racially charged controversy after her photo in a blackface hit the Internet this month. The photo resurfaced when the German magazine ‘Stern Fotographie’ published the image in one of its six hardback covers for its 60th anniversary issue. The picture shows Cludia wearing dark make-up and an Afro wig to look like an African American. The other covers also feature her wearing different costumes including a sexy secretary outfit, a leather-clad cop and even an Asian wearing kimono.

Schiffer’s representatives defended the controversy by saying that the photos were shot to reflect men’s fantasy and that there was no negative intent behind it. The photos, are apparently, some of Karl’s favorite ones with Claudia. And they were supposed to used for an advertising campaign of Dom Perignon.

For many years the African American women have been sexually exploited by men, and this only shows the way the things are perceived in today’s society.

In the modern era, everyone can share their views on a subject via blogs or social networking sites. So, at the end of the day, the purpose of the pictures will not really matter, but the most important fact is how they will be received by the public.
