My Dad Is Crazy: Jaden Smith

June 11, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Will Smith might be referred to as the most powerful actor on the planet but according to son, Jaden he is also crazy.
Jaden, whose film, The Karate Kid hits the movie theaters today, said that it was his father ‘s idea to remake the 1984 cult movie of the same name. According to Jaden, Smith had the idea but everybody in the house knows that he is a little crazy and therefore had their doubts about the remake initially. Jaden added that the family agreed after Smith’s constant persistence.
The original Karate Kid was directed by John G. Avildsen and told the story of a boy who had to suffer bullying after moving to a California town from New Jersey. The boy is taught karate by a martial arts master who shows him that martial art is more than mere fighting.
The remake of the film which releases today has some changes in the story. This time round, the boy is suffers bullying not after moving to California but China. Apart from Jaden Smith, the film stars Jackie Chan and Taraji P. Henson in the role of Jaden’s martial art teacher and mother respectively.
Jaden appeared alongside father Will Smith in the 2006 film, The Pursuit of Happyness. The film which was directed by Gabriele Muccino and based on a rags to riches story of the stockbroker Chris Gardner.
