May 01, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Bollywood has not had an eventful year so far. A majority of the films have done average business, with My Name is Khan being the only major hit. As such, a lot is expected from Sajid Khan’s Housefull. The comic capers stars a host of celebs like Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Lara Dutta, Arjun Rampal, Jiah Khan and Retiesh Deshmukh. It released on 30th but has run into troubled waters. The Kolkata High Court has issued a restraining order against the song Aisi to jaise taise used in the film.
The hit song was picturised on Amitabh Bachchan in the 1981 film ‘Lawaris’. It appears in a remixed avatar in Housefull, mixed with another song Dhanno. Anandji and the heirs of Kalyanji, who had composed the original track, filed a suit against the makers of the film. The heirs of the late Prakash Mehra have also filed a separate suit, claiming he had written the original song. They have alleged that producer Sajid Nadiadwala had not obtained the proper permission and legal rights of the film.
Justice Patherya of the Kolkata HC has ordered an interim stay on the use of the song till June 2. The original version had been rendered by Kishore Kumar and was quite a hit. Sajid defends the film saying that song was only done as a tribute to the bygone era!
