LONDON - Hollywood actor Ben Affleck says fatherhood made him develop a sense of responsibility to the underprivileged and motivated him to do charity work.
The actor, who has worked extensively for the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Africa, has two daughters - Violet Anne, 4, and Seraphina, 15 months — from his wife Jennifer Garner.
“I think most people are empathetic and see people who are struggling and are responsive to that, but for me having my own children definitely added to that sense of global responsibility and made me feel even more for other people’s suffering,” Affleck has been quoted as saying by femalefirst.co.uk.
“One I’ve been to Eastern Congo for a bit so I’ve seen firsthand a lot of what’s going on there and what these folks are seeking to address and I’ve been personally moved by that,” he added.
The 37-year-old spoke at a fundraising event aimed at helping homeless and at-risk children in the US and refugee children suffering from armed conflicts worldwide.
