LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- The Oscars this time featured an unusual advertisement, a bit different from the ones it usually airs during the commercial breaks. In an attempt to rope in as many viewers as possible, the network in which the Oscars is aired, that is, ABC, welcomed on its airwaves even commercials that do not deal with any specific product. One such example was the spot taken up by the advertisement featuring the Milton Hershey School, which is meant exclusively for underprivileged children, those either socially or economically backward. The advertisement was meant to promote the school, which is not known by many, according to one of the students of the Milton Hershey School.
Th advertisement for the Milton Hershey School features students of the school itself, all of whom have not been named. Among them, one is Sydnee Allen, a 16 year old sophomore, who lives in the Glenview home of the school. The commercial, lasting about 30 seconds, came on air for the first time sometime after 10 in the night, 10:15, to be precise. It would again be aired throughout the following week, along with a longer version of the same.
The commercial of the Milton Hershey School was sponsored by the Hershey Company, the famed chocolate giant. It features the students talking about their school, and ends with a close up of Sydnee Allen. Besides the hope that it will give the school the recognition that it deserves, attracting more students and providing employment to people as houseparents, it is also being speculated that the Milton Hershey School commercial would do wonders for the public relations of the company.
