MIAMI (GaeaTimes.com)- This Super Bowl, the one advertisement that really drew the attention of the viewers was the “Call Barney Stinson” campaign. Among the plethora of advertisements that got aired during the Super Bowl, it managed to interweave the mood of the game, and also threw in some publicity for the show “How I Met Your Mother.” The advertisement featured the popular character of Barney Stinson from “How I Met Your Mother,” played by Neil Patrick Harris. The best part of the advertisement is that it managed to capture the essence of the character well in its content.

The advertisement shows the actor Neil Patrick Harris, dressed as the character in the show, Barney Stinson, sitting in the audience gallery, holding up a banner inscribed with the words “Hey Ladies, Call Barney Stinson,” and a phone number, 1-877-987-6401, given in bold lettering below. The initial letters of “Call Barney Stinson” are in bigger font, adding up to CBS, the network that airs the show.

Needless to say, a huge number of calls went through to the number given. Those who managed to get their line through, which was difficult considering the traffic, heard a delightfully funny voice recording uttering some pick up lines, and finally fixing up a date with the caller, at the imaginary venue of the MacLaren’s Bar.. in 2016! The fact that the “Call Barney Stinson” advertisement had become hugely popular can be judged from the number of calls that went through to the number. It is also being speculated that the “Call Barney Stinson” advertisement might be the initial promotional for some episode of “How I Met Your Mother.”
