LONDON - The British X Factor’s position is threatened with a possibility that the show might not be aired for a year as it looks set to clash with its US version.

The problem arose after the show’s executive producer Simon Cowell signed a deal with Fox to air The American X Factor in autumn 2011.This is the same time when UK’s X Factor was slated to be screened.

Cowell is now trying to get the UK show a slot in Jan or Feb 2012.

However, ITV officials do not want the show to be screened in early 2012 and may ask Cowell to fly between London and Los Angeles every week to appear on both shows.

Dermot O’Leary and judge Cheryl Cole may feature on the US show, with Paula Abdul being touted as a sure shot candidate for the judges’ panel.

And Cowell has already begun preparations for the US show by making an exit from American Idol.

He believes the audience might get “sick and tired” of him if they saw him on both American Idol and X factor.

“You have got to know when it’s time to go,” the Telegraph quoted Cowell, as saying. (ANI)
