PHILADELPHIA (GaeaTimes.com) — Teddy Pendergrass, one of the most popular R&B singer has died Wednesday from colon cancer. The music legend passed away only at the age of 59, at Bryn Mawr Hospital in Philadelphia, his home town.

Teddy Pendergrass, adorably called “Teddy Bear”, possessed a wonderful voice that was often being compared to Barry White.

He was a former member of Philadelphia group Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes. He started his career as a drummer, but soon promoted to lead singer.

Today, I am deeply shocked by the passing away of this great singer. He was one of my favorite singers. Among his numerous hit songs, my favorites include, ‘If You Don’t Know Me By Now’ , ‘The Love I Lost’ , ‘Bad Luck’ , ‘Wake Up Everybody’ and last but not the least, ‘Love T.K.O’. ‘Love T.K.O’ was released in 1980.
