Jay-z Is Top Man On The U.s. Charts

Rapper JAY-Z has made history at the top of the U.S. album charts after scoring his 11th number one.

His new release, The Blueprint 3, has crashed in at the top of the new countdown with over 475,000 sales, landing the the 99 Problems hitmaker with the most
chart-toppers of any solo artist.

Previously, he was tied with Elvis Presley at 10. Only the Beatles have more number ones in America - with 19.

Fittingly, the Fab Four also had an amazing sales week - their newly-released remastered back catalogue sold over a combined 600,000 units, earning the Beatles another
one million sales year in America.

To date, they’ve sold 1,261,000 in 2009 - 150,000 less than 2008’s tally.

The Beatles have never sold less than a million albums in a year since current chart records began in 1991.

The group’s remastered Abbey Road album was last week’s biggest seller, debuting at number three on the Top Comprehensive Albums chart behind Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3
and Miley Cyrus’ The Time Of Our Lives.

The release also debuts at number one on the Top Pop Catalog Albums chart.

On the main chart, which the Beatles’ reissues are not eligible for, Cyrus stays put at two, last week’s chart-topper from Whitney Houston, I Look To You, drops to three
and rapper Raekwon’s Only Built 4 Cuban Linx Pt. 2 debuts at number four.

Brooks and Dunn’s Number Ones… And Then Some enters the new chart at five.
