By ANIFriday, September 4, 2009
LAHORE - Terming the 1992 military operation against the MQM as ‘illegal’ and ‘cruel’, cricketer turned politician Imran Khan has said the offensive conducted by General Naseerullah Khan Babar in Karachi was legitimate, as it ensured peace in the region.
Delivering a lecture at the Jung forum here, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) chief said military operations in the past have caused irreparable damage to the country.
Khan said dialogue, negotiations and finding an alternative way out should be encouraged to establish peace in the region.
Expressing concerns over reports of presence of US Marines in Islamabad, he said the Marines were a threat to Pakistan’s sovereignty and freedom.
Khan also lambasted the corrupt political leaders, saying leaders involved in money corruption with conspiracies of agencies, must answer to the nation. (ANI)
