PESHAWAR - Cricketer turned politician Imran Khan has said his party, the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI), would lodge a case against the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) in the Supreme Court if the government fails to o away with the law in the next four months.

Khan said the NRO was a part of an effort to secure some corrupt elements and bring them under the slavery of the United States.

Speaking at a function organised by the PTI’s students wing, Khan came down hard on opposition parties saying their existence was a mere drama to misled country’s people.

“Neither the government nor the opposition was interested in solution to problems of the people. Both sides are playing a drama to fulfill their own interests,”Khan said.

Blaming former President General Pervez Musharraf for the current turbulent situation of the country, he said the former general must be tried under the Article 6 of the Constitution.

“His (Musharraf’s) decision to send the army into the tribal areas in 2004 disturbed the situation,” The News quoted Khan, as saying.

Terming the security scenario of the North West Frontier Province (NWFP) as ‘abysmally poor’, he said provision of security to life and property of people was the foremost responsibility of the government, which the current regime has failed to provide.

“The reason for the rising insecurity was the leaders’ lust for earning dollars,” Khan charged. (ANI)
