Michael Jacksons family fighting over his estate
By SAMPURNThursday, July 23, 2009
Katherine Jackson had been appointed temporary executor last week, when the family still believed the star had died without a will.
But then Michael Jackson’s 2002 will surfaced; with a five-page document which was written seven years ago, establishing his attorney John Branca and veteran music executive John McClain as executors.
Authenticity of the will was established by a Los Angeles judge who ruled that Michael Jackson’s 2002 will; is indeed valid. And therefore, MJ’s attorney Branca and music executive McClain are executors of his estate.
The lawyers for Jackson’s mother tried to stall the decision of the judge saying, “There is concern over handing over the keys to the kingdom so quickly.”
In his will, Jackson had split the estate among his mother, three children and various charities, completely dropping out his ex-wife Debbie Rowe and giving his mother Katherine the custody of his kids.
